How to Lose a Career in Two-and-a-Half Easy Steps

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, throwing away the winning lottery ticket, biting the hand that feeds you—use any cliche you wish and it doesn’t even come close to summarizing the bizarre actions of Angus T. Jones.  You might know him better as “Jake” from the hit CBS sitcom 2-and-a-half Men.  Earlier today he encouraged people to stop watching the show and called it “filth”, despite the fact that he is a central character in the cast.  In a lengthy rant, Jones says he doesn’t care if he’s fired nad would prefer to be off the show.

But what could have possibly facilitated someone to react completely irrationally without regard to the possible consequences?  What is the one force that can seperate man from the grips of common sense in order to do what is ultimately against one’s best interest?  Yep, religion wins again.  It seems that Jones has recently discovered God and in doing so is prepared to throw away a $350,000 per episode gig ($8.5 million per year).

The 19 year old actor has been part of the cast on 2-and-a-half Men since it’s debut in 2003 and has accumulated a fair sum of money in that time.  Nevertheless, Jones calls the show “filthy” and warns us that it’s another way that “the enemy” works it’s way into our life.  Presumably, “the enemy” he refers to is Satan.  While hilarious, it’s always sad to watch a child actor burn the bridges that are so hard to build in show business.  19 Year olds may think that they have all the answers, but when he’s washing cars or pumping gas in ten years or so he may look upon this awkward seperation from Hollywood with some regret. Ask Kirk Cameron how the ultra-religious swing went with regard to his career.

I’m sure one day he’ll say “I was on a hit TV show once”, and I’ll reply “…oh and I’d like fries with that”.

Get a Flu Shot or You’re Fired!

Sounds ridiculous, but that’s exactly the policy as TriHealth.  The Cincinnati business told it’s 10,000 plus staff that they had one month to comply with the flu shot edict or face termination.  Nearly 150 employees refused to go along with such an unorthodox policy and were promptly given pink slips, although they can appeal and will have their jobs reinstated should they get a flu shot.  Now this should be an interesting lawsuit!

I See That You Have a Few Outstanding Parking Tickets Ma’am…

Now that’s an understatement!  Jennifer Fitzgerald has likely set a Chicago area record for the accumulation of the most parking tickets.  The 31 year old single mother has racked up 678 tickets and more than $105,000 in fines in a three year span.  The story is a bit more complicated as the woman says the car does not belong to her and is therefore not responsible for the fines.  Of course, she has a lawsuit in place against her former boyfriend (who had a hand in the ticketed vehicle), Southwest Airlines and the city of Chicago.  Incidentally, the previous record holder had only about 250 tickets and not even half of the total fine.

Alabama Lawmaker Says “Bring Your Gun to Work”

Roger Bedford a DEMOCRAT from Russellville has proposed a bill that would allow individuals to bring their firearms to work.  The measure would require that guns are properly stored and locked securely at the place of business.  Naturally, there is some opposition to the proposed legislation, particularly from the Business Council of Alabama.  Similar laws have been proposed at least two other times in the past and, despite their backing by the National Rifle Association, failed to pass.

The most shocking part of this ridiculous piece of legislation is that a Democrat proposed it… no, it’s not a typo.

On a Related Note

A Union Township Target store was robbed on Friday evening.  Three men in ski-masks waited until the store was closed and when employees went to the cash room to put away the evening’s receipts and deposits the men attacked them, bound them and took the money.  The 40 minute incident went unnoticed by several other employees within the store.

This falls into the related category because stories like this are obviously the types of cases that representative Bedford would use to make his case for firearms in the workplace.   As pro second amendment as I may be, there are limits to where/when firearms should be utilized and the workplace happens to be across that line.  In the above incident, and another cited on this episode, no one was harmed but such might not have been the case had guns been involved.

Well the show Two and a Half Men is over. Charlie didn’t die. He was kidnapped by Rose. Charlie’s brother and Ashton pretended they were gay to adopt a child. Just wasn’t a good show anymore. Glad to see it gone. However, I feel the way you do, that some church is going to take “Jakes” money. I hope he learns that you can find God and still live and work at a job and that is just what it is, a job. Your own personal values and morals can still be safe and in tacked. Oh and can I get a couple of million?

How can the United Nations have anything to do with the internet? Are they having a blonde moment or is that just me? :P moving on…

How does one collect more than 678 tickets and has to pay $105,761.80?
Wouldn’t the car have been towed? Her Ex Boyfriend is a douche bag.

Gun rights are in place, yes, but at a place of work or school, no.

Firing someone for not getting a Flu Shot is ridiculous.

Worst Song of the week: My Life – Adam Levine, 50 cent, and Eminem
