So, About That Global Warming…

The wild winter of 2010/2011 continues with one of the worst storms in recent years sweeping across 30 states. In Dallas, TX, media from around the world are gathering in anticipation of Superbowl 45 and the weather has nearly paralyzed the city. Snow and a coating of ice have made travel conditions virtually impossible; add to that the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport being closed for a time on Tuesday and the travel nightmare is complete. Tulsa, OK saw more than 13 inches of snow–a single storm record and temperatures were averaging 20-30 degrees below normal in a wide swath of the nation.

Even here in Phoenix afternoon highs on Wednesday were only in the low 40s, about 25 degrees below normal. Frigid conditions are expected throughout the next day or so before some moderation in temperatures begins this weekend. Of course, curiousity prevails and I wondered how long it would take for Al Gore to chime in on this most recent bout of extreme weather… turns out he already had plenty to say. No surprise that he rings the alarm bells of man-caused-global-warming and how we can expect more extreme cold which is really warm, which is really cold… whatever. It seems anytime the weather is even slightly off of the climatological averages, the doomsday climate change crowd is immediately crying wolf.

The Egyptian protests continued with gunfire, violence and hundreds of injuries and multiple fatalities. The conditions nearing the point of revolution are a sign of the times in the region, but be careful what you wish for… one can only wonder if the new leadership that eventually takes control of Egypt will be even worse than Hosni Mubarak. If the U.S. sticks it’s nose into this mess then that scenario seems very likely.

It’s not just the FCC and American broadcasting that comes up with bizarre broadcast standards. The CRTC–Canada’s equivalent to the FCC–has banned a song from their airwaves… a song that’s more than 25 years old and has played tens of thousands of times and is only now being thought to be objectionable. Canada’s strange standards confuse us all. What song is it? Tune in and find out.

Also on this episode: Composer John Berry dies, – Woman sues police after they use bolt-cutters to remove her piercings… all of her piercings… yeah even that one. – More thoughts on the State of the Union address… style, yes. substance, not so much. – Generally speaking, you don’t want ot use a grenade to light a cigarette.

One Response to “So, About That Global Warming…”

  1. Al Gore made this claim as to why the U.S and I guess the rest of the world are experiencing Global Warming.

He keeps quoting scientists and scholars but this fraud has no credibility on his own. I can quote scientists and scholars that refute global warming too. The EPA is ready to proceed with it’s “Carbon Credit” BS and we have no say in the matter. If they can regulate CO 2 (the air you breathe out), then they can regulate how much pee you can piss!!

    I weep for the future!!
