Just days after a devastating tornado ripped through the town of Moore, Oklahoma the medical examiners office and local officials provided the smallest bit of good news. The initial estimated death toll was lowered to 24, down from the initial reported value of 51. While this is little consolation for those that have lost loved ones or the families affected by the catastrophic damage left in the wake of the storm, it’s certainly a silver-lining to an otherwise black cloud still hanging over the community.
More than 240 people were injured as a result of Monday’s tornado and among the hurt at least 60 are children. The city appears to resemble a war-zone following the destruction caused by the F4 tornado—the most powerful to strike the state since the F5 tornado outbreak that affected parts of Oklahoma City in May 1999. Damage estimates are in the hundreds of millions of dollars across the state as other violent storms rocked the region earlier this week.
We Should Have Seen This Coming…
The Moore, Oklahoma tornado isn’t the only storm being stirred up as the usual political firestorm is once again sparked following any natural disaster. Man-caused-global-warming alarmists were quickly seen filling up the talking head shows on various media outlets to let us know that this is just a sign of things to come as the Earth goes through further climate changes in the future. Someone might want to inform Al Gore that it could be considered slightly bad taste to ram political agendas down our throats while we’re still trying to pick up the pieces from a major disaster.
Tri-fecta of Presidential Scandals…
Speaking of politics, the president is again facing questions with regard to how much information he had regarding the IRS and their investigation into primarily conservative (tea-party) organizations and what he planned to do now that new information has come to light. President Obama’s teleprompter may need some extra maintenance as he will also have to answer more questions about his knowledge of the September 11, 2012 attacks on the U.S. embassy in Libya, not to mention the justice department investigating members of the media in secret.
Much more about these “scandals” and how the president may or may not fit into the equation ultimately is discussed in this episode.
