Breaking News, We Quit!

image post

It’s always the dream of any employee to tell their boss to ‘take this job and shove it’, but two anchors did more than just that (in a professional way) this week.  At the conclusion of the 6 PM newscast on WVII TV in Bangor, Maine anchors Cindy Michaels and Tony Consiglio both announced their immediate resignation from the station.  Apparently this was much to teh surprise of the production crew and station management.

So why the abrupt departure?  While not entirely clear, it seems that a rift between management and the on-air personalities had developed over the past several months.  One might use the old cliche “creative differences” to best categorize the situation.  Nevertheless, Bangor’s ‘longest running news team’ will no longer be found on the ABC affiliate (Channel 7) in Bangor.

Michaels stated that she will pursue some freelance work, painting and perhaps writing a novel, while Consiglio had no specific endeavors to reveal.

Also On This Episode…

–  Cease Fire Part II:  Hamas and the Israelis appear to have agreed upon another cease fire.  Following another series of attacks Tuesday in violation of the first agreement, the two sides negotiated a second stoppage to their respective assaults Wednesday afternoon.  Realistically, how long can this agreement hold up?  Probably until one of the many radical sub-factions within Hamas decides to stage another attack.

–  Ding Dong the Twinkie’s Dead… Again:   Another round of final negotiations between Hostess Brands Inc and the union workers broke down Tuesday night.  Desperate to try and save their product from oblivion, the snack maker tried to get the union to agree to some of the original terms put forth in order to secure financial restructuring, but the union refused.  That’s right, the union killed the Twinkie… twice.

–  Jack Taylor of Grimmell College—a division III school—broke an NCAA men’s college basketball record scoring 138 points in a game!  Of course, if you’ve listened to this show long enough then you know there’s a lot more to this story than meets the eye…

–  A survey was conducted to see which celebrity Americans would like to spend Thanksgiving dinner with, the result… not that big of a surprise.  Hint: A letter of the alphabet and an instrument used by an archer.

Happy Thanksgiving to All !

  1. I understand the dislike for unions but what do you have against people wanting more money? Hostess might not have more to offer but I’m talking about janitors and airport workers or even other industries. What do you have against people making a living wage? Are you one of those rich people that won’t give up a few nickels to the less fortunate?

Unions of today are mostly lazy bastards who got rich with power and on that we’ll agree, but come on mike a janitor has every right to ask for more money! You may not like the way they did it but how else are they supposed to get heard? You say you’ve taken less money to keep a company in business but not everyone has that luxury. Its totally easy for you to sit on your high horse and tell others what they should make but it rubs people the wrong way. These are people that listen to you and you’re telling them that they don’t deserve more money or that they should understand how the market works.

Janitors and maintenance workers don’t have time to contemplate the wonders of capitalism, they are simply trying to survive.

Just so you know, I love your show and think you’re awesome but your views on capitalism and the market are so elitist and make me think you own stock in a ton of companies and are looking out for a bottom line here as opposed to humanity.

Hostess snack cakes are crap anyways. I’m a TastyKakes girl.

Wow, can’t believe people quit right on the air. Kind of interesting.

138 points in a game of basketball? Impressive!

Thank you for all your hard work, Mike!! ;)
